A one-year commitment Volunteer who mentor youth (ages 16-21) focusing on life skills, goal setting and readiness for adulthood.
1. Complete a volunteer interest form
2. Attend an information session to learn about the program.
3. Complete your volunteer training to equip you for your role and background check.
4. Get matched with a youth based on fit and availability.
1. Must be at least 22 years old to be a BEYOND volunteer.
2. Must be able to pass an in-depth background check and provide at least 3 references.
3. Must have reliable transportation and be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Records check (as well as have an up-to-date driver’s license and insurance).
4. Complete required training.
5. Have a heart for building consistent, intentional relationships.
Volunteers are asked to commit to a one-year commitment but hope that the relationships last a lifetime. Youth in foster care often experience instability. By showing up consistently, you help build trust, belonging, and relational permanency—core to our mission at I Love Beyond, Inc.
It varies greatly based on how quickly the volunteer submits all materials and completes training, as well as the availability of an appropriate match. Volunteers can typically expect the onboarding process (from application to match) to take about 30 to 60 days.
A mentor is a trusted, consistent adult who provides guidance, support, and encouragement to help youth navigate life’s challenges. They offer emotional support, help with goal setting, and serve as a positive role model. A resource who paves the way to success and derives satisfaction from helping others succeed. Your role as a mentor is to inspire, encourage, and support your mentee and to contribute to their professional and personal development.
